Engaging the Crowd
One of the most important aspects of creating a great website is engaging your target audience. Just like in the game of basketball, as a product, you are trying to promote whatever it is you are selling to your specific audience. Basketball would not be fun if there was no crowd interaction. The players feed off of the energy from the fans and are able to display a fun and energetic product. Website design as we have discussed is essentially the same thing
Through our last few weeks in class, we have learned about what makes a good website. Just like when you're out there on the court, there are a few main things that you need to do to create a successful place for people to visit. The biggest takeaway that I had from the last few classes was this concept called crowdsourcing. Crowdsourcing is getting information from the general public in order to create an engaging piece of work to reach a specific target audience. In basketball, we do this through advertising. Players broadcast themselves across commercials and advertisements in order to sell themselves and their games to you the fans. This website creation is essentially the same deal. As you learn to interact and engage with different audiences, you are allowing yourself to create the best possible product for the group of people you're trying to reach the most.
Having a great target audience is the first step to having a successful website. In order for you to sell your product, you have to have content that engages your customer! In the basketball world, it is the most entertaining and exciting teams that sell-out the most arenas. By having this engaging look and content, you give yourself and your website the highest chance at the end of the day to leave a positive impact on your future customers.
